Interview with Alfonso Montoya

Can you briefly introduce the GEPP Group?

GEPP's consolidated business journey began in 2011, after the integration of existing operations from Geusa, PBG, and Gatorade of Mexico, along with the entry of Empresas Polar of Venezuela.

As the exclusive PepsiCo bottler in Mexico, GEPP boasts over 45 beverage production plants across the country and its own preform production facility, PROPLASA. With over 42,000 employees, GEPP is a significant employer in Mexico's private sector.

We are a business group focused on the operation, manufacturing, distribution, and marketing of various beverages, including water, carbonated drinks, non-carbonated drinks, and isotonic beverages. We lead in the production and distribution of 20-liter bottled water. Our portfolio features renowned brands like ePura, Pepsi-Cola, Gatorade, Manzanita Sol, Mirinda, 7up, Lipton Tea, Canada Dry, B-Light, Jumex Fresh, and others. Additionally, GEPP distributes Alpura products in the Traditional channel within various regions of Mexico.

Why did you choose SIPA?

The close collaboration between SIPA and GEPP started in 2003 when SIPA provided blowing equipment and filling lines for Geusa plants. Later, SIPA installed an SFR 16 model blower and a 144-valve filling line at the Celaya Plant in Guanajuato for 3-liter Pepsi production. This filler has proven to be remarkably efficient.

In 2022, GEPP decided to strengthen its partnership with SIPA as a strategic technology provider for a plant technology renewal program. GEPP awarded SIPA contracts for 4 XTRA blowers and a Gatorade filler. Based on the excellent service, quick installation, start-up, and operational efficiency gains, GEPP further invested in 2 more XTRA blowmolders, a complete water line (57,000 bph), two soft drink lines (48,000 bph), and 14 palletizers from SIPA.

With its plastics production subsidiary PROPLASA, GEPP implemented a preform lightening program, selecting SIPA as the winner of the tender for lightened neck functionality with the PCO 1881 LW (LightWeight) proposal.

What innovative services does GEPP recognize from SIPA?

SIPA's ability to provide strong technical support in Mexico, with a growing team of qualified technicians and a well-organized spare parts warehouse, ensures quick and accurate response times, solidifying their position as GEPP's strategic supplier. GEPP also values XTRA's recognition for its connection to Echo and 4.0 digital services.

What are GEPP's future challenges in the Mexican beverage market?

GEPP is committed to contributing to the well-being of Mexicans and their families, acting ethically, and complying with laws and regulations. We strive to be a competitive option for consumers, offering excellent service and high-quality products. We aim to grow our portfolio, build mutually beneficial relationships with clients and suppliers, provide decent work for our employees, generate maximum returns for partners, actively participate in our communities, and contribute to Mexico's prosperity.
